8:00 am was the leaving time to embark on the return trip west. Cool but sunny, and with all the dew, we waited until near Fredricton to put the top down. We decided to cross the border by way of going through McAdam N.B. (an old railway station - see pic - very large in its day with a dining room and lunch counter along with rooms for overnight guests -- now a museum), and took a picnic lunch break while there. While in Maine saw a couple of covered wooden bridges - always a treat. Then enjoyed the route through Maine on highway 16, staying overnight in Kingfield, south of our planned border crossing tomorrow; this route will take us up a nice canyon road past 'Sugarloaf' ski resort, along the Quebec border to Lennoxville to visit with a prior bank colleague - Burt - who we are very much looking forward to spending some time with.. The hotel (Herbert Hotel - see pic) in Kingfield goes back to 1918 and is very nice -- small, etc., but we appreciate the old building and the efforts to maintain its history for us to enjoy. Covered 720km today, and moved into the Eastern time zone from Atlantic, so got an hour back! Had a nice dinner at 'Longfellows', directly across from the hotel.
