8:00a start with 5:00p finish covering some 630km through Kentucky, West Virginia and Virginia. Started off on
freeway, but did hwy 60 (West Virginia) which was winding and very nice once we got
through a lengthy industrial area. Then, back to freeway until we took hwy 56 (off of Hwy 81/64 in Virginia) - now this was a very very twisty road, two lanes, no shoulder, trees on the edges and a signed speed limit of 55 --- nuts if you went that speed, but you wouldn't be able to do so for long before crashing - guaranteed! Then onto the Blue Ridge Parkway (1935 start as part of depression era work project) for the trip north into Waynesboro for the night. Tomorrow's plan is Skyline Drive - which is the continuation of the Parkway north - which we plan to take to Front Royal, Virginia. Maybe we'll then overnight somewhere in Pennsylvania. Pics from the Parkway, the capital building in Charleston, West Virginia, and other sights along the way.
